The Villages is a city located in Sumter County, Florida with a population of around 157,000. The community was developed by H. Gary Morse and he was able to turn it into one of the fastest growing retirement communities. In 1968, Harold Swartz was left with large portions of land when a Federal law banned selling real estate through mail order. He originally turned the land into a mobile home park. To make the area more successful, he brought his son, H. Gary Morse, on board who turned this land into the Villages in 1992.
