Mount Dora is a city located in Lake County, Florida with a population of around 12,534. The city was originally founded in 1874 by David Simpson and his family. At this time, the town was named Royellou after Ross C. Tremain's three children. Since the town is located 184 feet above sea level, it received the name Mount Dora. Today, the city has many antique shops, and one of three freshwater lighhouses in Florida. It is also known as "Festival City" because of the many festivals that take place in the city.
